Game Council R-Licence

In NSW several wild species have been declared Game Species and their populations are managed by the Game Council NSW. The management of these species extends to both private and public land and accordingly, these species cannot be harvested without proper authority. With a Game Council NSW R-Licence, these declared game species can be harvested by hunters. This licence also extends the areas in which hunters are able to pursue game to selected state forests and crown land areas.

To apply for a R-Licence, applicants must:

  • be a member of an Approved Hunting Organisation (like Nepean Hunters Club), and
  • become accredited in atleast one R-Licence category.

Nepean Hunters Club have approved Testing Officers for the R-Licence Test which is held monthly. If successfully completed, a certificate is provided, which with your Nepean Hunters Club membership (and if applicable, your NSW Firearms Licence), provide the necessary requirements for your application to the Game Council NSW.

These tests are open to existing members of the Nepean Hunters Club, as well as non-members. Both NSW Firearms Licence holders and Bowhunters are able to obtain R-Licences and access the selected state forests and crown land areas.
